What I've tried so far

Herbalife Products I've tried so far:

At the moment I'm on the Protein Plus Starter Programme which includes:
  • Herbalife Formula 1 Nutritional Shake Mix
  • Herbalife Personalised Protein Powder
  • Herbalife Multivitamin Complex

I'm following the Herbalife recommendation of 3 - 2 - 1
  • Taking my tablets 3 times a day
  • substituting 2 meals a day with a delicious shake
  • Eating 1 colourful meal for dinner.

Breakfast - Herbalife shake: (Ranges from 189 - 260 calories depending on the fruit you use)

Formula 1 Nutritional Shake Mix: I'm using 2 scoops for each shake with 300 ml skim milk and a variety of different canned or frozen fruits (see the Shake Recipe page for more info) these are the flavours I've tried:
  • French Vanilla - delicious when blended with peaches, apricots, blackberries, mixed berries.
  • Dutch Chocolate - tastes great warm or cold.
Personalised Protein Powder: I add 1 scoop to each shake, to help reduce hunger between meals and build lean muscle.

Multivitamin Complex: 1 tablet (I've been using a great tablet crusher and just adding the crushed tablet to my shake)

Mid-morning: (approx 6 calories)
Instant Herbal Beverage - Original: This is a lovely combination of green tea and specially selected herbal extracts, it's got a lovely citrusy smell and it's only 6 calories a cup, and you only need to use 1/2 teaspoon of it in a full mug. If you like it a bit sweeter you can add sugar or honey (but that's going to add calories) or, my new favourite product Stevia (it's a natural plant based sweetener with no calories and no horrible chemical aftertaste, Hermesetas have it in tablet and sachet forms, available at supermarkets here in Australia.)

Lunch - Herbalife shake: (Ranges from 189 - 260 calories depending on the fruit you use)

Formula 1 Nutritional Shake with added Personalised Protein Powder
Multivitamin Complex tablet.

Mid-afternoon: (approx 6 calories per 250ml cup)

Another Instant Herbal Beverage or my new recipe Instant Herbal Beverage Iced Tea:
  • Pour 100ml Bickfords Diet Lemon Juice Cordial into a 1 litre bottle.
  • Add 1 teaspoon Instant Herbal Beverage and about 50 ml boiling water.
  • Shake well together and fill the rest of the bottle with cold water.
  • Delicious, refreshing and very low cal.

Dinner - A tasty, healthy meal:

I've been making a variety of things for dinner, but really watching how much I put on my plate and making sure I throw in heaps of fresh vegies.

I'll try to put up some recipes and links for dinner ideas a bit later on. One great tip I learned is to use a shallow bowl to put my dinner on instead of a plate, it makes your brain think there's more food there! Oh how easy it is to fool the human brain ;-)

Evening Snack: (approx 150 calories)
I look for a snack that is no more than 150 calories.

Some of the things I've tried so far:
  • 1 Salada biscuit, 1 slice tasty cheese, sliced tomato (approx 150 calories)
  • 1 packet Sakata minis - cures my craving for something salty and crisp. (18g packet approx 65 calories)
  • 1 row of Cadbury's chocolate (from a family type block) - you'll need willpower for this one to stop at only 1 row. (30g approx 140-160 calories, depending on which one you have)
  • Herbalife Protein Bar: Instead of grabbing a chocolate bar, treat yourself to a Protein Bar, they''re soft and chewy, and packed with nutrition. It satisfies and gives you valuable soy protein between meals for sustained stamina and satisfaction. Great for mid morning or mid afternoon as well. My favourite is the Citrus-lemon, but they also come in Chocolate-peanut and Vanilla-almond. (approx 135 calories per bar)

Don't forget one of the most important items is to get at least 30 minutes of exercise at least 3 times a week!
