Day 2: Hi ho, Hi ho, it's off to work I go!

Note to self: Read before bedtime. I didn't get to sleep until 3 am this morning. My mind just wouldn't close down, and I still had WAYYYY too much energy to settle.

I may not have mentioned before, but I've been married for over 30 years to the same wonderful, patient, man. I've given him quite a few nicknames over the years (most of them very unflattering ;-) but I think from now on he shall be known as...... Farmboy! Those of you who know Farmboy personally will know this is the perfect name for him.

Most mornings, Farmboy gets up way before me, makes his own breakfast and lunch and toddles off to work without even waking me (I mean how considerate is that). This morning I decided a change was in order.......

I got up at the same time as Farmboy and started my new daily routine:
1 tablet, 1 shake etc etc. (Used the same as yesterday's recipe this morning, really must buy some other fruit on the way home).

We chatted over breakfast, Farmboy went out to do his chores, bring down some fire wood, feed the cows, tote that bale etc, then left for work. I wasn't far behind him. So I made a cup of my Instant Herbal Beverage and grabbed a Citrus Lemon Protein Bar to take with me. This was the first time I'd tried one of the Protein Bars, and gotta say it was delicious, it may even encourage me to give up chocolate! "Steady on", I hear you say, let's face it nothing can replace chocolate, but this bar was really tasty, and helped me  get through my morning until it was time to go home for lunch at 1.30.

I only work part time and Wednesdays are the only days I work in the morning. I teach people how to use computers at a community run Online Access Centre here in Lilydale. I LOVE my job, I mean for a Gadget Girl like me being able to play on computers and then teach other people how to make the most of them is the perfect job.

Home for lunch and another shake, I bought some frozen blackberries on the way to create yet another signature One Fat Lady shake, I shall call this one:

Blackberry Beauty - blend all ingredients together and enjoy:
  • 1 cup frozen blackberries
  • 2 scoops Formula 1 Nutritional Shake Mix – Vanilla flavour
  • 1 scoop Personalised Protein Powder
  • 300 ml skim milk

Here's a pic of my new shake, isn't it a pretty colour!

So now on to plan dinner I did say I was a foodie right......hmm..... what'll it be tonight.

How about some grilled chicken breast with a citrusy marmalade glaze, I'll add some steamed carrots, broccoli and potatoes to finish it off, surely that's not too much to ask.

Quote for the day comes from one of my favourite movies, the Monty Python classic The Meaning of Life - The Autumn Years
Maître-D': Uh, today we ’ave for appetizers — excuse me. Uh, moules marinières, pâté de foie gras, Beluga caviar, eggs Benedictine, tart de poireau — that’s leek tart — frogs’ legs amandine, or oeufs de caille Richard Shepherd — c’est-à-dire, little quails’ eggs on a bed of puréed mushroom; it’s very delicate, very subtle.
Mr Creosote: I’ll have the lot.
Maître-D': [Pause] A wise choice, monsieur! And now, ’ow would you like it served? All, uh, mixed up togezher in a bucket?
Mr Creosote: Yeah... with the eggs on top.

I always think of this one and have a little chuckle, especially when I've overeaten at a party and feel really blah.

Well tune in tomorrow when I may even get around to that exercising I mentioned yesterday...... you never know your luck.

Day 1: It's a new day, it's a new life! (fingers crossed)

Starting weight: 99kg
(OMG, surely that can’t be right! New decision, only going to weigh myself once a week)

Took a photo of myself today to start my challenge (Aaaargh, no wonder I always prefer taking pictures to being in them! I could definitely star in a remake of The Blob.)
Breakfast: Took my Formula 2 Multivitamin Complex tablet
(after talking to my mentor I’ve decided to use 1 a day for the next 3 days then increase to 2 per day).

I made my Formula 1 shake by blending together:

  • 300ml of skim milk,
  • 3 spoons of Vanilla flavoured Formula 1 Nutritional Shake Mix,
  • 1 scoop of Personalised Protein Powder
  • 6 slices of tinned peaches (tinned in juice not syrup, aren’t I a good girl!).
For me the Vanilla flavouring was way too strong, so, again after discussing this with my mentor, I will reduce to 2 scoops for my next meal replacement.

Morning Tea: I wasn’t sure what to expect of the Instant Herbal Beverage (a mix of green tea and specially selected herbal extracts). As soon as the hot water hit the tea in my cup a wonderful citrusy aroma wafted to my nose. (Ok I know, now I’m sounding like Nigella Lawson in those ‘Tea is for Twinings’ ads) Wow, finally something I like to drink that has less than 6
calories per serve. Goodbye weak, white and 2 (the way I normally have a
cuppa). Must try the Peach version of this.
Lunch: Formula 1 Nutritional Shake, used the same recipe I tried this morning but I reduced the Nutritional shake mix to 2 scoops. (Must say I liked this one much better). Will definitely order some of the chocolate flavoured shake mix to try. Mmmm chock shake mix and frozen raspberries blended together, something to look forward to.

Off to work at 2pm so my Instant Herbal Beverage is coming with me.

Dinner: I’ll strive to go with the Herbalife ideal of tablets, 2 shakes and 1 colourful meal per day. What will it be tonight? Made a scrummy sitrfry with lean beef strips, heaps of vegies and a chinese BBQ style sauce, served it with brown rice (which I happen to love, I thinks its the chewiness of it).
So end of day 1 how do I feel? Well, I’m certainly not hungry, the shakes have definitely helped there. Will need to wait a few more days to see any change in energy levels I think, who knows, tomorrow I may even add in some…… EXERCISE……………….Stay Tuned…….
